Spring Break

Submitted by Jon Springer on Sun, 02/19/2012 - 1:14am

Like the Mets, I'm also flying South this weekend. Only quite a bit West too.

So updates will be infrequent while I take the fam to visit the home of Sid Fernandez, Benny Agbayani, Carlos Diaz, Tyler Yates and the birthplace of Ron Darling. If you happen to see whether my imagined Tim Teufel-Ruben Tejada duel takes place and/or can fill in any other blanks below during the first week of Spring Training, just note so in the comments. Thanks and see you soon!

coaches

mets.com lists Bones in #25, Goodwin in #26, and Teufel in #18.

Racaniello is also listed as

Racaniello is also listed as #79, Hudgens moves to #51, Langill in #78.

#7 Bob Geren?

I can understand giving #7 to a star brought in from another city, or a young shortstop coming up, or even a bench player, but a bench coach? I came to accept how the Mets never made a formal offer to Reyes and that the Marlins were just going to outspend everyone--as the Marlins are wont to do every 15 years or so--but I cannot comprehend how the first spring after he leaves you give Jose's number to a friggin' coach. Tell him to take 50-whatever and be damned glad he has a job.

Well, they gave Beltran's #15

Well, they gave Beltran's #15 to a Dave Kingman-esque mammoth barely a few weeks after his departure, so is this really a surprise?

Not a surprise.

I am with you, metsilverman. Another example of the Mets getting it wrong. It is respectful to rest a star's number for a year after they leave--especially when Reyes would have been happy staying in NY. They permanently rest #24, and #8 and #17 seem to be resting these days, too. I don't think it is a stretch to say that Reyes is an ALL TIME MET GREAT. Seriously, Geren couldn't be assigned a number in the 50s?

I can see that there are

I can see that there are people who are already posting while you are on vacation and I hope that you have a good time and that you will have a lot to read when you get back. Have fun.

When someone goes on vacation for some variety and asks that people leave informative posts on the spring training for baseball they will have a lot to read when they get back.

Bei der Buchung einer LastMinute Reise sollten, egal wie günstig der Preis auch bereits

erscheinen mag, verschiedene Anbieter verglichen werden.
Denn gerade in diesem Bereich
