Daniel Murphy arrived via the Mets' pipeline in August of 2008 with a rep as an accomplished lefty hitter without a position and lived up to -- and down to -- those expectations in 2009, when he proved an especially weak defensive left fielder and an inadequate first baseman offensively. The Mets might have tried him next at second base, but a knee injury cost him the entire 2010 season. Still a question mark as 2011 dawns.
