Spent the final season of his 20-year career with the Mets, giving up No. 19 shortly after Jeff Conine, a 17-year Major League vet in his final season, joined the Mets for their shameful stretch-run collapse.
Added to the staff as a catching instructor in 2008. Son of former player and coach Sandy Sr., and brother of Roberto.
